#109 in The Need To Know Badass Blues Instrumentals Series, Barcelona Boogie, features the masterful and entertaining guitar playing of Diego García, aka, Twanguero. At 6 years old Diego entered the Valencia Conservatory to study Flamenco guitar with Lázaro Villena, a student of Andrés Segovia. By fifteen Diego was on top of the heap on the fertile Valencia music scene and by twenty, he moved to Madrid, quickly gaining recognition as one of Spain's best guitarists. Tours and sessions abound, taking Diego around the world many times over. All the while working on the recipe that is now known as Twanguero; a little bit of Jimmy Bryant, Chet Atkins, Paco de Lucia, and a whole lot of Diego Garcia. For the last twenty years Twanguero has had an illustrious solo career, receiving a Goya, a Latin Grammy, and the praise of the late great writer, Gabriel García Márquez calling Twanguero "un maestro de la guitarra". We completely agree! Enjoy!
